Upcoming motherboard lineup for AMD 5000 series
Hey everyone, tech and retro video game enthusiast here doing my first few posts! I am looking to do a Ryzen 5600x build this year to replace my workhorse 4790K but current motherboards do not have support for AMD 5000 series CPU without a bios update. I could ask for that at the store when buying the motherboard but I am wondering if we are expecting a new generation of motherboards soon or just generally where we are in the motherboard lifecycle. I know CPU and GPU lifecycles but not so much motherboards. Thanks!
AMD mentioned they aren't launching a new chipset line—B550 and X570 are the Zen 3 series. This change aims to avoid confusion, likely because AMD isn't keen on the chipset market. Previously, they used different naming conventions: 300 with 1000, 400 with 2000, 500 with 3000, but now it's 500 with 5000.
