How many machines should I upgrade to gain sufficient experience in your view? How familiar are you with how the system functions if you believe Windows relies on drivers for devices absent from the system? Yes, Intel drivers remain in your AMD setup even if removed, though they become inactive. The registry holds the information about drivers currently used. You can easily remove unused drivers in just a minute if you wish. Also, installing a new system might take around 20 minutes—possibly for someone who hasn’t engaged much with their computer. For many, it could take hours or days before everything resumes functioning correctly (programs, settings, restoring private files, etc.). This might be the case for just a browser and two games, but not for intensive computer use.
I had this exact discussion a few days back. Though it's considered better to reinstall after a system swap, it's not really necessary for Windows 10. Some of you here seem confused about this. Also, I prefer not to reinstall the OS because of all the registry changes I make along the way—they're really frustrating to fix. You'll go even further when trying to explain why Intel still holds an advantage for certain tasks. lol Anyway, before we stray too far, Windows 10 should work fine. Just plug in your current drive and you won't notice much. But what are you planning to use this computer for? If it's for gaming, I'd recommend getting a decent i7 7700K for the price and saving on the motherboard. Once AM5 is released, you can upgrade your PC then. I'm saying this since a 7100 to a 2600 isn't a major boost for gaming. But if you're aiming for a 3600, that's a significant jump.

It's not just a one-time setup; sometimes small adjustments, tweaks, or configurations are needed over time. Trying to gather everything after a fresh install can be quite challenging.
do you use ddu for your graphics card? if yes, it’s a bit ironic for a video card but the whole system works fine with different drivers. for stability, i’d suggest reinstalling and checking registry tweaks—users will see what they need right away if they ever run into issues.
No. I maybe used it once long time ago. Didn't know exactly why, but I remember that was very strange system I was trying to repair/diagnose and that was one of method to eliminate potential problems. So, as you see - it's not ironic. You assumed that I'm using DDU. You're wrong. All kind of recommendation should be based on hard evidences. Not "some issues", but real examples with explanation. Why on dozens computers I made (and few I use every day for years) I have no stability issues, problems with bsods etc? Is it magic? Luck? No, it can't be, because computers do not work based on luck or magic. When system loads, it load current hardware configuration, check for hardware changes and if there any - installing drivers for new hardware and update current configuration. It can even restart itself when needed for proper work after drivers install at boot. Then old drivers remain inactive, because do not fit to any existing hardware. It's like having zipped program on hard drive - it takes some space, but it not autostart, not use any resources and is not used by any extension. Is it that hard to understand? Because many people recommend something, it doesn't mean it's true. One person repeats after another and then we have crap like "reinstall system even if you change mouse" or "reinstall windows every minor problem, it's the easiest/only way". It's always facts vs myths. As I said - I upgraded and prepared dozens of comptuers and basically almost never installed new system. My win10 has 4 or 5 years and works better than "fresh" (because I have lot of useful tools configured to make my work faster, not because it boots 2 seconds faster or something like that). If changing hardware is that sensitive, I should see ANY symptoms, anything. After all, I work over 10 hours per day using computer, so any instability or even suspicious delay is something I would noticed for sure.

Regardless, I have a lot of tools installed, and even on a clean system, the registry remains nearly unchanged after installation. It's modern technology—using it as much as possible is beneficial.
