UOLTT plus every vessel equals enjoyment
Another Saturday, another gathering. We actually played one of the recommended war games and had a great time until the server ended us. Then we attempted to capture another group, but it didn’t go well due to interference from other players. Preparing the missile testing was both fun and educational. Afterwards, most of us left because of some errors and crashes, and we continued testing with the available ships—specifically Sabres—in the Vanduul Swarm. As usual, everything was recorded on our YouTube channel (this time without any distracting window in the frame). The schedule was thanks to @colt92. Spoiler: 0:00:30 Yes, Napper, we’re live. 0:02:02 In the Universe! 0:03:12 Corwin explains the wargame scenario and new rules are established. 0:12:20 Deploying Corwin at the asteroid/rescue location. 0:19:35 Discussing what kind of gathering this would be without any mishaps. 0:24:20 Teams are divided. 0:24:45 Napper’s team (the attackers) departs from Port Olisar. 0:25:52 Missing quantum jumps pose a serious risk. 0:26:50 Napper plans to ambush Dusk’s team on Cry-Astro 262. 0:27:47 These space battles are impressive, I agree. 0:29:20 Rentaspoon (the defenders) is downed. 0:30:10 The Yela Conflict. 0:32:10 Napper outlines the strategy for his team for the remainder of the scenario. 0:34:55 The defenders are engaging in unusual tactics. And where exactly is Dusk? 0:36:30 We messed up the game file. D: 0:37:00 Scenario debrief and further ideas. Thinking about next steps. 1:04:40 Gearing up for the missile clusterfuck. 1:05:35 If you share the same settings for missiles and press-to-talk, expect trouble. 1:05:40 Hmm, let’s give it a go. Open fire! 1:06:00 These Connies are really tough. Light them up! 1:16:00 Just playing around a bit more. 1:19:45 Spoons’ happy pills are starting to wear off. 1:20:30 With most players gone, we settle down for some light chatting. 1:25:35 Napper enjoys relaxing by examining his plants and chatting about his ships. 1:33:00 A walk through the ships in Napper’s fleet. 2:01:47 Vanduul Swarm with Sabres.
I'll start recording the timestamps when I can... or when another person arrives first. P.S. It's 4:32, and you're making a joke.
They're quite solid when they manage to avoid crashes. If you choose to join, it'll be enjoyable and mostly smooth.
Around 59:45 we're preparing for the missile test. When @rentaspoon mentions wanting to see Connie up close, he explodes when I was checking around Missiles. I apologize for that segment—I can't delete it on my phone.
Regarding the main issue – I’m pleased with our performance in the scenario we attempted yesterday. It actually unfolded more smoothly than anticipated. The team leaders put in their best effort to anticipate and mislead each other at every step, while the team members followed their commanders effectively, delivering strong results. There were intense battles and some losses. Until we lost connection with the server. It seems we might have been cut off because we generated a lot of server traffic by rapidly moving around. Next week, we’ll finalize the scenario and share it ahead of time so everyone can become familiar with it. We’ll also clarify the specific engagement details, which means we just need to join an instance, receive a briefing, and start. Great work team!
For me, the highlight of yesterday was reaching twelve participants in one session without too many problems, given that the group size is capped at eight. I was worried we wouldn't be able to explore moderately complex situations until later in development because of this limit, but I'm thrilled to know we can handle nearly any scenario we imagine. I sketched some rough timelines and key moments, mainly focusing on the wargame setup. Feel free to adjust or skip any section you don’t want.
