The SSD is experiencing access issues, mainly during read operations. I can view the disk contents normally until I start reading data, but some files cause errors. After an error, the device becomes invisible in Windows or BIOS. Error logs appear in Event Viewer under the relevant keys. WHEA errors show up in the Event Viewer as well. A reboot usually helps, though restarting after a 5-10 minute shutdown can resolve it. Interestingly, health checks indicate everything is fine, and the system reports no issues. Initially, I suspected overheating, but logs showed no signs of that. The problem now consistently reproduces. I attempted a power cycle by booting into BIOS and leaving the PC running for an hour. I’m unsure what else I can do to recover the SSD, as it seems permanently damaged. The drive is installed via a PCI-E adapter, which didn’t fit on my old motherboard. I replaced the adapter but didn’t fix the issue. The SSD model is Kingston SKC2000M81000G, running Windows 10 Pro 22H2. I formatted both drives—one successfully and the other at 4% completion. After deleting the failed drive and creating a new one (64GB) and another with remaining space, I left the second drive untouched for full formatting. It appears to be functioning now. I lost roughly 65GB of storage, which isn’t too much considering the alternatives. P.S.: It’s surprising that this worked out.
