Unusual signal transmission when linking PC to a new Sony Google TV
Hello, welcome to the forum. I understand this might be a bit unclear. I’m new here and don’t have any prior experience with this issue. I’m trying to resolve a problem with my TV setup. Recently, I purchased a Sony XR 65X95J. When connecting my old laptop via HDMI 2.1 and a 2.1 cable, everything works smoothly—no flickering or artifacts. However, when I connect my PC (4k@120Hz, HDR enabled) to the TV, I encounter strange flickering and a boot logo appears instead of the usual startup screen. After updating BIOS and drivers on my PC, the connection still fails on the old TV, but works fine with another setup. The laptop runs Windows 11 with the latest updates. Could you help figure out what’s causing this discrepancy? Thanks! Edit: I also tried routing the HDMI signal through an AV receiver, but it repeated the same issue. My laptop functions perfectly. Please let me know if you have any insights.
You discovered the Nvidia GeForce Experience driver was the issue after reinstalling Windows 11. After reverting the driver update, everything functioned properly. The latest driver download seemed unnecessary, but it cleared the problem. It’s strange how the updated version caused the trouble, but at least the system is now stable again.
