Unusual problem with the motherboard
I own a build with an ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Pro (WIFI) motherboard. I decided to update the BIOS on the motherboard as the version I was currently running seemed out of date (ver. 3001 to 4405). However, since doing this, my build has picked up the strange issue of booting, shutting off for a few seconds, then booting straight into Windows like nothing happened. My burning questions are is this going to potentially hurt my PC, and is there an easy way to remedy this without having to replace anything if so? Specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x RAM: 32GB (4X8GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX running at 3200 MHz MOBO: Listed above GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 SSD: 2x Inland Premium 1TB HDD: 1x Western Digital WD_BLACK 6TB 1x Seagate Barracuda 2TB PSU: ASUS ROG STRIX 1000G 1000W 80+ Gold CASE: Corsair Crystal Series 680X
So initial guesses? I haven’t encountered that on any ASUS board (though I’ve used a few, so don’t take it too seriously). With the others I own, it’s roughly even—about half the time it works and half it doesn’t. It’s not risky, just a bit odd at first and takes some getting used to. If you need to revert, you can simply switch back to the previous BIOS version. There’s no real need to stick with this standard BIOS if it isn’t as reliable as your older one. Contrary to what some say, the latest BIOS isn’t always the most stable; sometimes an older version performs better despite being outdated.
