Unusual problem
I installed a 4 GB RAM stick in my laptop and then encountered an issue. Occasionally the laptop won't start unless it's plugged into a charger. When it does start, it shuts down immediately after removing the charging plug. I've checked the battery connection, but everything seems fine. This problem happens sometimes, though the laptop works normally otherwise. If I remove the new RAM stick, the laptop functions properly without any issues. Laptop model: Acer Aspire 5 i5 8×8 GHz, 2600 MHz, 4 GB RAM – crucial! Help needed.
There might be an issue with the RAM stick itself or the RAM slot. You've already done all the necessary checks to pinpoint the problem. Should you swap out the RAM stick? If the issue persists, the slot is likely the cause.
It could indicate a dead or weak battery since the laptop only functioned when connected to power. It might seem like a coincidence following the RAM installation, but testing without the new module would clarify the issue quickly.
