Unusual presentation problem.
I’m facing an odd issue. My PC appears on any screen, but not on monitors—it shows up in settings as a usable display yet nothing displays. I’ve swapped cables, tried connecting the laptop directly to the TV, used just the TV alone, and even switched operating systems without success. My graphics card is a Gigabyte RTX 3060 paired with a Ryzen 5600X. I’ve updated drivers on both bots OS and Ubuntu, but it still doesn’t work. My TV model is a Samsung UN46F7500AG. What might be causing this?
It varies based on your display needs. Some films require specific standards like HDCP, and if only part of it doesn’t work, the screen may show black. You can adjust your Windows settings to switch to Clone mode for multi-monitor setups. Ensure all monitors are turned on. Also, Nvidia cards can support up to four displays at once, though the exact number of physical ports isn’t important. Hope this assists. Merry Christmas!
I'm attempting to replicate my screen, increase its size, or even run it as a single monitor for gaming from my couch. I've checked all the settings in both operating systems, but nothing seems to work. It's puzzling why my PC can't display anything other than monitors. My laptop with similar specs managed this easily, though it has power issues that made me hesitate. Merry Christmas to you too!
I overlooked mentioning something important—have you considered reducing the resolution? TVs might struggle to show even 1080p, so 720p or 800x600 could work. In the worst case, companies like Nvidia or Samsung might push for a monitor purchase. I’m not sure about that, but with automatic updates, things can get unpredictable.
Yup, I've tried every single resolution available. It's a 1080p TV, it should be good to go. What's even weirder, is that it doesn't work with any TV apparently, I just tried plugging in to 2 other HDMI TVs (and they work with the aforementioned laptop!!!) and neither of them seem to work, even if my PC recognizes both of them, maybe I got a TVphobic GPU? The joke might be true, but it could also reflect a real issue. Nvidia might have updated their drivers in a way that affects TVs when used as monitors. Since I’m not sure about your TVs, I don’t have many options. You could test with a Linux Live USB to see if the problem lies with Windows or hardware. Good luck!
Apologies for the lack of a solution, as this appears to be a hardware issue. Happy New Year!
