Hey! I'm facing some odd problems with my computer starting from last night. Most online guides haven't helped much. In simple words, my CPU is working less than it should be. I'll give an example. I've been playing Horizon: Zero Dawn and since I always run Afterburner/Rivatuner, I know my game usually uses about 70 watts. Temperatures are high in the 60s for a solid 120 FPS. But yesterday it spiked to 180 watts – that's near the limit of what my cooling can handle. Now I'm throttling and seeing 60-70 FPS with lags in the low 30s. Loading times are also slower. I've tried other games too, same issue. It feels like the fans are working harder when it's running, and the desktop temperature is a bit higher than before. Idle temps stay around 35°C. I'm not sure what changed between Sunday and yesterday. The latest GPU and OS updates are outdated, and I haven't changed anything in BIOS. Thanks for your help!
You own my PC and would reset the BIOS to standard settings. I have limited knowledge about Gigabyte, but if an AI overclocking feature altered some configurations, it could lead to instability and increased power usage or temperatures. If resetting the BIOS doesn’t resolve the issue, I’d check for available BIOS updates. Should none of that work, I might attempt a fresh Windows installation, even though I’m not sure it would solve the problem. I hope someone finds a solution!
Hi, thank you for your message. Yes, that was definitely the problem. I’m surprised the CPU profile in the BIOS was adjusted to an unusual setting. After resetting it, everything returned to normal. It’s understandable if someone unfamiliar with tech assumes this is the standard profile for their system. A shame indeed.
