I was discussing The Long Dark with a friend over Skype, while keeping my second monitor on afterburner. My GPU stayed at around 35% usage, fans barely spinning, and temperatures hovering near 68°C. Inside a building, I found my GPU cranked up to 99% with temps soaring into the 70°C range and fans working hard at 30%. When I’m in open spaces with lots of particles and light, my GPU feels much lighter. What could explain this difference? My 970 seems to behave differently under those conditions.
