Hello everyone, I'm seeking assistance regarding a recent PC configuration. The problem involves the machine booting and functioning perfectly initially on my network with stable internet speeds. However, once relocated to a different location, it fails to connect to the router, causing it to reset the modem repeatedly. Additionally, the connection speed plummets from 100Mbps to just over 1.7Mbps, which is concerning given Australia's third-world internet situation. The issue appears to start when the PC powers on. Troubleshooting steps so far include verifying power cables, checking router temperature, ensuring traffic isn't using only 20% of the 2.4GHz band, and resetting network settings via PowerShell commands. Adapter settings confirm 802.11 a/b/g is set as default with 2.4GHz as preferred. This is unusual for someone who has built over 50 PCs for family and friends without encountering similar problems. I appreciate any guidance you can provide. Best regards, Trevor
It seems like your router is quite outdated. Upgrading it might make a big difference. If you can't upgrade, have you tried restarting it? Try unplugging and plugging it back in. Could using Ethernet help check if your computer slows down the connection? Make sure you're not running any torrent clients or Windows updates.
