i was dealing with a 4k video project when ram would fill up completely, triggering windows warnings. the odd part was that i just needed to keep task manager open and tap it to bring the process to the front, which instantly reduced the usage from nearly full to almost empty. works on windows 7, premiere, and after effects.

It might simply mean windows now shifts premiere to lower priority, which clears part of the area used by the timeline.

Absolutely, most of the RAM is used by the operating system. The system has 24GB, which means it will likely clear a lot of the editing software. I’m not sure if “priority” and “foreground task” are linked in Windows.
