Hello, yesterday my computer behaved oddly—like it claimed I wasn’t connected to the internet yet could still stream YouTube. I can’t download anything, it seems to work normally until it freezes at the end. There’s a strange issue with the networking icon in the taskbar showing only airplane mode and links, and when I try Cortana search it keeps loading infinitely with dots appearing. I’ve looked up solutions online but haven’t found a fix that works. I’m hoping you can help restore normal functionality so I can use the computer again.

Hello and welcome. A quick answer about clicking on the icon and it only showing what it shows. If you don't have Wifi or if it's disabled then that's all you will see.

If you're connected to the internet but Windows reports otherwise, it usually means Windows can't reach Microsoft servers to verify your connection (this happens because it checks periodically or after network changes). Something might be blocking access to Microsoft services. This also accounts for Cortana's reduced performance. Regarding your downloads, there could be an issue—review your security programs, reinstall network drivers, scan for malware with Malwarebytes, and restart your router.
