Unusual increase in power usage, decrease in voltage output, and reduced frame rates on the Ryzen 5 5600X.
Hello, I'm encountering a recurring problem where the PC functions smoothly and achieves 100-200 FPS on Heaven Benchmark, but consistently stutters or lags under other conditions. During basic tests, frame rates stay below 50. Despite checking hardware changes—removing, reinstalling, and testing different components—I still face this issue. Restarting doesn’t resolve it, and the PC only stabilizes after a long idle period. Temperatures remain normal (50-60°C) and system utilization stays under 30%. Crash restarts often follow these spikes, followed by a black screen with no keyboard or mouse input. Even when using a minimal rig with just the power supply, motherboard, CPU, graphics card, RAM, and various SSDs, the problem persists. I’ve used the latest drivers and firmware, and everything is set to default. My suspicion points to the CPU being the root cause. I've attached a graph illustrating unusual fluctuations in power and voltage. Let me know if you need further details.
It seems there’s a malfunctioning power sensor causing the CPU to overestimate its power draw. The system attempts throttling to return to safe limits. Are the sensors integrated into the CPU itself or located on the mainboard? Do you have another board nearby for inspection?
The HWinfo indicates a significant deviation in Power Reporting at 2000% during low conditions and 9000% during high conditions, though the latter appears after the event.
Visited the store, had the Mobo inspected. It was found to be due to physical damage. Replaced it with a new one and everything is functioning properly now.
