I just received GTA 5 for free on the Epic game store. It’s working fine with other games, but this one is acting oddly. High frame rates above 60 FPS lead to stutters and dropping frames, even though my GPU and CPU are under 80% usage most of the time. When I disable VSync, the game runs smoothly except for a bit of input lag. Do most people need to use VSync, or is it common to stick with it? My system has an i5 8400 Vega 56, 16 GB RAM, and a 500 GB SSD.

While using or not using VSync, I mostly encounter stutters at a similar frequency regardless of the setting. Could you tell me what your CPU and RAM are running at? (Some of my games had issues before I boosted mine) Here are your details for reference: i5 6600k @ 4.5GHz, GTX 1070 FE, 16GB DDR4 @ 3000MHz

You typically set the clock speed to 2800MHz and adjust other parameters like voltage, frequency scaling, and power settings accordingly.

1080p resolution, sharp detail at high settings, 4x MSAA applied (TXAA and FXAA disabled), no distance or resolution scaling beyond the core options. Performance is about 100fps on average, sometimes hitting 120, other times around 80, varying with the scene.
