Hello, I've faced a problem for several months where my screen would flicker after using my PC for an extended period. This issue has occurred across multiple PCs and screens. Here are the details:

PC#1 specifics: MSI Raider GE77HX - Intel Core i7-12800HX - RAM 32 GB DDR5 4800MHz (16GB*2) - 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 SSD - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070Ti, 8GB GDDR6 - Windows 11

PC#2 specifics: Custom-built PC - ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-PLUS WiFi - AMD Ryzen 7600 - Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000Mhz C36 - Corsair RM850x SHIFT - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 TI WINDFORCE OC 12GB - Samsung 980 Pro 1TB - Windows 11

Screen#1 and Screen#2 are both relatively new. I've even taken PC#2 to a professional diagnostic service, which found no faults. Through extensive troubleshooting, I reached these conclusions:

- When audio plays on the screen, it continues while the flickering persists. The flicker doesn't appear as a disconnection in Windows.
- The problem appears only over HDMI 2.1; other displays without this support don’t experience issues.
- The issue intensifies over time and is more noticeable when using higher resolutions or bandwidth-intensive settings.
- The cable quality seems to play a role, as some cables struggle to maintain flicker-free performance at 4K@60Hz.
- I recently purchased an El Gato HDMI cable designed to prevent this, but after about 45 minutes of 4K@144Hz with HDR, the screen still flickers.
- Using cables from newer consoles also caused flickering, though I hadn’t encountered such problems before.
- I’ve used a MacBook Pro via USB-C with Screen#1 at 4K@144Hz for months without any issues.
- Attempting DisplayPort with Screen#1 didn’t help much either, though I wasn’t sure about the cable quality there.
- I ran thorough stress tests on both systems and found no faults.
- I suspect overheating might be the cause, which is why I bought several HDMI cables in hopes of a better result, but they all ended up causing flickering.
- I tested lower frequencies (120Hz and 100Hz) without success.
- Disabling HDR didn’t resolve the problem.

I’m still trying to understand the root cause, as it’s frustrating not knowing what’s behind this issue. Thanks for your assistance.

It was odd to face the same problem in a particular area. I changed monitors and cables, but the issue stayed. After swapping out the computer too, the same problems continued. Eventually, I connected everything to another outlet to avoid the APC UPS unit I was using, which resolved it. I’m not very knowledgeable about power systems, so I thought either the UPS or the outlet might be faulty. Try connecting to a different outlet if you haven’t already. It’s strange and unlikely, but after isolating so many factors, troubleshooting can lead to unexpected solutions.

I also swapped the outlets, but didn’t connect the PC and Screen to separate ones, which seems to reduce the flickering. This might be the real problem. I’ll run additional tests to confirm and hopefully a current stabilizer will fix it. Appreciate the advice—will let you know once I have more details.

I’d also think about replacing the power cables for the monitors, especially if you have backup options, as it might indicate an issue with the power supply.

I've tried various cables for the monitor, but the TV is more challenging since it doesn't use a standard cable. After checking, it seems the issue might be about refresh rate rather than power. The flicker appears even at 1080p144Hz and decreases with lower refresh rates (60Hz shows no flicker). I'm confused about the solution right now. Perhaps switching to DisplayPort to HDMI 2.1 would help, or you could turn off VRR and tolerate some compression.
