On my main screen, the taskbar sits right next to the bottom icons, which is exactly what I prefer. But when I switch to the secondary monitor, a big space appears between the taskbar and the icons at the bottom (second picture). I've tried changing the vertical spacing, but it doesn't match how I want it. Setting it to 1 makes the icons align with the taskbar on the first screen, yet when more rows appear above, names overlap (third picture). Since I mainly play games on the primary monitor—144Hz—I want the taskbar and desktop icons there, but the gap on the secondary still bothers me.

That's Windows' current approach—no official solution exists. You can try Rainmeter for a cleaner look, and you can place your shortcuts exactly where you like.

Windows 8.1 with Classis Shell works well. Windows 7 can struggle with performance issues.

The rainmeter seems off. The windows look like they're falling down.

I'll attempt it once more, but I wasn't impressed the first time.

If you're not happy with ready-made solutions, you must understand coding to build your own if you're skilled and invest the right time you can create nearly anything you desire.
