Unusual display during BIOS and before Windows startup
Unusual display during BIOS and before Windows startup
Hello everyone. Recently I experienced some display issues when starting my PC, especially around the boot screen. There were occasional strange icons and sometimes completely bizarre errors, like distorted logos or unexpected colors. I found online advice suggesting default BIOS settings might help. I tried that and entered BIOS, but the screen displayed incorrectly—some colors appeared wrong, with green, purple, and yellow lines where black should be, and the bottom part of the BIOS shown yellow instead of white. My PC functions normally otherwise; the GPU and RAM are working correctly, and using the integrated GPU didn’t fix the problem. I suspect this is due to a mix of outdated BIOS and new drivers. I hadn’t updated the BIOS since everything seemed fine before, so I wasn’t sure if that was the cause.
I also made an error during my purchase—ignoring RAM support guidelines—and bought a RAM module not listed on the official support page. It worked initially even when Expo was enabled, but after several driver updates, issues arose: a red light appeared on the motherboard when I powered on, preventing booting, though everything resolved once restarted and the light turned off. The Gigabyte support team advised updating the BIOS.
Additionally, I’m wondering if a faulty RAM could be responsible for this kind of display problem, especially after BIOS updates. Customer support from Gigabyte recommended trying a BIOS update, but they weren’t certain whether it was a hardware or software issue. Thank you for your assistance and understanding—I apologize for the unclear English.
