Unusual delays on the internet occur randomly.
A few days back I experienced sudden lag while playing games. I assumed it would resolve quickly, but it persisted for days. Now I’m still facing performance issues in every game, even when only one device is online. Could you assist? I’ve included a screenshot of my internet speed test results.
Lag often stems from various factors. Your machine? The router? Your internet service provider? A remote server? Any device in the network? Even a microwave can occasionally disrupt wifi signals. To diagnose, try these steps: - Use ping - traceroute - speedtest (your current setup) Start with some basic tests. If you’re aware of the connection point, run a ping to their server from the command prompt to measure latency. Netstat may reveal where the connection is happening. Run traceroute to the server and compare speeds. If another device can perform the same checks, it narrows down the issue. Also, verify if Windows updates or other tasks are causing the delay. Check your resource monitor for network usage. Test pinging both your router and the router itself during slow periods. If you can connect directly to the router, that could indicate interference. Examine your router’s CPU load—consider rebooting it. Look at your neighbors’ wifi channels; some routers let you select a channel, others auto-select. Using a wifi analyzer app on your phone will show which channels are active nearby.
