Unusual brief interruptions while using your computer.
Operating Windows 11 on a WD Blue 1tb NVMe storage. System runs a Ryzen 5 2600 with 16GB Vengeance DDR4 RAM, powered by a Gigabyte B450M-DS3H motherboard running the latest BIOS. The PSU is an older (~8-10 years) CX750 model. The GPU is a GTX 1060 with 6GB VRAM. All components are at stock speeds. Recent issues include random stutters and freezing during everyday tasks like opening apps, browsing Twitter, or moving windows—sometimes the mouse cursor gets stuck, screens freeze briefly, or the display turns black before restoring. In games, performance remains stable. Task Manager shows no unusual spikes. A memory test came back clean overnight. Recently, a second-hand 2080ti caused similar problems, showing CTD or freezing with unclear error messages. It seems the PSU might be deteriorating over time. Since it’s the oldest part of the setup, replacing it could be risky without expert advice.
Any adjustment causes your windows to shrink the width-to-height ratio, resulting in an empty space on the screen while interactions pause temporarily.
Keep the task manager active continuously. If you notice stuttering, look at the graphs to see what’s consuming resources.
I was using the task manager previously. Everything looked normal except for the GPU hitting its limit while browsing Twitter. I thought it was just hardware acceleration, but now the computer runs smoothly—GPU usage stays around 30% or less. No stuttering or spikes. Just a screen that freezes briefly before resuming.
