Earlier this week I encountered a problem where my PC wouldn’t boot at all. I attempted various fixes—disconnecting everything and leaving just the motherboard, testing the PSU with only an SSD connected, which worked. The system would not start no matter what I did. When I switched the PSU from OFF to ON, the indicator lights on the MOBO would activate and then turn off as usual. Using the power button or trying a screwdriver on PW+/PW- still resulted in no boot. The fans wouldn’t spin even when I powered it up. After several hours of troubleshooting, I gave up and decided to reinstall everything carefully, focusing on PSU cycles. Finally, it managed to boot—no errors detected. I ran intensive GPU and CPU tests to check if the PSU was stable, but it didn’t fail. I also tried shutting down the PC, turning off the PSU, and then powering it back on; it booted normally afterward. I reset the BIOS to factory settings and enabled only PBO. For a few weeks everything worked until today. The problem reappeared but changed slightly. When I turned the PSU off and then back on, the indicator lights behaved normally, though it still wouldn’t boot. I removed the GPU and RAM, disconnected drives, and left only the motherboard and CPU. It still wouldn’t start. I reinserted everything except the RAM, but it failed to boot. I performed several power cycles on the PSU while it was off and on, cleared the CMOS, and even tried booting from a different drive. Nothing worked. Eventually it powered on after a short delay, and has been stable ever since. I ran tests to verify the PSU’s power delivery, but it passed. Now I’m puzzled—what component is faulty? It’s a part, not the whole unit. The motherboard is under warranty, so I’m trying to identify the specific issue.
