Unnecessary delays on Steam platform
Hey gamers, hope everything’s alright. Last night I reset my PC because I was giving it to a friend. After reinstalling Windows, all the network/Lan drivers appeared in Device Manager and everything seemed fine. When I handed it over, my friend mentioned Steam capped the download speeds at 20MB/s. I remember before the factory reset, Steam would download games at 200MB/s. I tried changing the download region and clearing the cache, but that dropped the speed to 500kbps. After reinstalling the LAN drivers, the issue was fixed. Here are my speed test results: https://www.speedtest.net/result/8107968979
I believe you might be confusing Megabit with Megabyte. A Megabit per second or mbps equals 1/8th of a Megabyte, and Mbps is 8 times a Megabit. Based on the download speeds from Steam, your 20MBps would convert to 160mbps. Your speedtest showed around 198mbps, which is close. If you measured 200MBps, it suggests a 1.6 Gigabit connection or 1600mbps. All internet speeds are expressed in Megabits per second. A rate of about 200MBps is quite fast for most uses today. I don’t think you need to worry about the numbers you’re getting. Let me know if this clears things up.
