It seems like the problem is with the software. As long as the drive functions, it should work fine. No specific driver is required for M.2 SSDs or similar storage devices.

You can launch Device Manager (press WIN + X → Device Manager) and verify that all devices are listed by Windows. If none are missing and you've installed all drivers from your MOBO manufacturer's website, you're ready to proceed.

Something comparable occurred to you following several Windows updates and a chipset upgrade; it appears to have fixed itself and now displays properly.
