Unknown device problem ?
Hello. Today my Ethernet was fluctuating, so I checked the Device Manager. In the "Other Devices" part, there was an unknown device marked with a yellow exclamation mark. I'm unsure what to do... when I go to the hardware IDs at details, it shows something like ACPI/VEN_AMD. What should I do?
I looked up those hardware IDs and the Driver Identifier site, which lists the driver for an Asus device. I haven’t purchased any products from the Asus brand for my PC yet. Another site, driverpackage, provided direct driver downloads for Windows.
Be careful of those driver installer sites, they're usually just waste. Double-check your motherboard page and ensure all components are installed. If it's an Intel model, consider using their driver and update tool.
I am not aware that they have an auto tool that works the same way the Intel one does.
Going to ask around on this one.
I entered the motherboard manufacturing site, then moved to system and drivers, where I downloaded the AMD chipset driver. Since I didn't see its name in the System information or system driver section, what should I do next? Also, is there another driver required because my Ethernet connection keeps dropping?
One of our moderators suggested trying the following:
Powershell is useful for locating and listing device drivers using a Get cmdlet. For example, you can run Get-WindowsDriver -Online, which includes references at the provided link. The link offers several examples that you can paste into Powershell at the PS> prompt. Using search parameters there can help refine the results. A note added later is that Get-PnPDevice might also be beneficial.
