Uninterruptible shutdown without bootloader
Uninterruptible shutdown without bootloader
Since I started building my computer, I've faced random shutdowns and can't identify a clear cause. I've adjusted XMP and gameboost settings in the BIOS, reset the system, and even swapped out the motherboard, yet the issue persists. My hardware includes an i7 8700k RTX 2070 Super, an MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC 16GB, and Corsair CX750 PSU at 3600mhz. I'm not overclocking either component.
I considered it, but it didn’t look probable given the size of the PSU and the build requirements.
Big – yes. Faulty – uncertain. But likely not. Set up Windows on a spare disk and use only official drivers without third-party utilities for testing purposes (second drive since I don’t believe it’s a system issue but who knows). Add monitoring software, MSI Afterburner should work. It might even be a weak GPU, so consider downclocking it using that tool.
Additionally, regardless of whether RAM tests succeed or fail, ensure you utilize only a single stick of RAM.
This problem occurred on several GPUs, including my new 2070, 750Ti, and 970. It seemed more severe when testing with the 750Ti and even worse with the 970.
Sure, I've experienced three distinct installations on my computer, and each one performed identically.
