I have a Unifi AP lite and an AP pro that are fairly close in terms of range, but the lite is housed in a metal enclosure which limits Wi-Fi coverage near the pro. This setup is mostly useful only for the info you shared—namely, the pro won’t assign an IP address, while the lite will. Both devices are controlled by the same central unit. I connected my laptop to the LAN of the pro and it functioned properly. Any advice on where to begin? Thanks!

In the Devices section, verify the broadcast SSIDs match the network you wish to share. If issues persist, restarting the access point can help. Additionally, confirm that the AP Pro can connect to your router, as it is responsible for assigning IP addresses, not the AP itself.

Your wireless setup needs the correct VLAN on the port where the new AP is connected. The AP only provides access to the existing network, while your router handles IP assignments.

Ended up doing a factory reset and it helped. Im aware the AP isnt responsible for assigning IP addresses, but it is responsable for letting devices connect to the network and it wouldnt give anything I connected a IP address. (I know thats a super dumbed down explanation but knowing that the fault in the network was the AP it was the easiest way for me to explain it)

I attended the same problem at a conference—it was a challenge for us, and Ubiquiti reacted negatively. There’s been a bug for months now, where certain APs stop forwarding request packets unless you use a Unify gateway. It doesn’t make sense, but I managed to reproduce it after 25 leases. The APs won’t forward requests anymore. We didn’t catch this during testing since we only used around 10 devices. This remains a flaw in the current firmware, and it’s clear we’ll never roll out Ubiquiti in enterprise settings.
