I'm not sure, but it sounds like a small interface or header connector on the motherboard for the Asus Crosshair Vi hero. It might be used for connecting peripherals or firmware updates.

It seems to be a three-pin 12V fan connector. Their site mentions it offers quieter, cooler operation thanks to smart fan and water pump controls for smooth gaming. It includes built-in thermal sensors and detects PWM/DC modes at hardware level, ensuring optimal cooling performance and minimal noise—so you get the power you need without the disturbance!

Typically these items get labeled as FAN_1 or similar. Avoiding any reference to the header in the manual seems wise.

The guide doesn’t reference it (like pages 1–2). It seems unlikely to be a fan header, since it wouldn’t be labeled that way. Probably a debug probe intended for developers rather than regular users.

It could be a VDG adapter for an RGB M.2 SSD because it's close to a M.2 port.

However, it's unclear why it wasn't labeled clearly or highlighted in the documentation. The diagrams in their manual don't reference this area at all.

I'm about to close this thread since I discovered the connector is intended for development testing and won't show up on consumer boards.
