I experienced a strange frame drop issue with my new RX 480 4GB card in Mirror's Edge Catalyst. It affected certain games differently. Crysis 3 handled it well at 30-40fps, but with MSAA x8 and medium motion blur it dropped to 100-110fps. Battlefield 3 was stable around 100-110fps, ultra CSGo reached 170fps, while CS Source hit 400fps but then capped at 90. MEC showed 40-50fps on Hyper before dropping to 20-30 fps intermittently, making gameplay difficult. Switching to Ultra resolved the problem. The AMD Crimson driver 16.12.2 might help. Recording with ReLive worked fine, but other titles performed better during recording.

Your CPU activity during the drop is minimal.

previously I experienced serious issues with the Catalyst Hyper settings, especially on a 280x display. Now that I'm using a 1070, it's still problematic. For better results, go with Ultra.

In fact, you're right about overusing the vRAM. With two 980Ti units and just 6GB, it's only sufficient for hyper.
