I recently faced a situation where my CPU usage in the task manager reached 100% while playing games. This problem has happened before, but then I restored the system and it resolved. Now I don’t have any restore point left, which is causing my game to crash and drop frames frequently. I’m using a GTX 1050 with 8 GB RAM and an Intel i5 8300H processor.

Examine which applications are consuming the CPU. Look into the Task Manager for detailed usage information.

In ideal conditions CPU usage stays around 5-15%, yet it jumps to 100% when I start any game.

It seems the issue might stem from the game and its DRM, which can be demanding on the CPU. However, you haven't specified what process or application is consuming the most processing power, beyond just the game itself.

I've been using Apex Legends for a few months, it worked well until recently. Then I tried other games like FIFA 19 and Rainbow Six Siege, but they also showed full CPU usage.

We need information about which application was consuming all CPU power. In the task manager, if it shows 100% usage, you can open the tab and it will highlight the most resource-intensive program in that section.

It's a mobile device with a quad-core processor, so full utilization in the game is normal (whether it's CPU-intensive or not).

The issue is that the frame rate suddenly drops from 60 to 4 during games, and this has never happened before.

The issue isn't about CPU load—it's fine if it's handling tasks. I'd check thermal info (temperature and throttling), power configurations, whether you're gaming while connected, if you're using non-OEM drivers, and if your games run on a hard drive. For laptops, these are typical performance concerns.
