I bought the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO Carbon WIFI and intend to connect it with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x processor. I’m worried about the BIOS version on my motherboard since I don’t have another CPU to test. The board supports USB BIOS flashback, which I plan to use for updates. Because I’m unsure of the exact BIOS version, I’m nervous about installing the same one again and fear it could damage or corrupt the board. I’m reaching out to this community for advice. The main concern is: will using the same BIOS as currently installed on my board cause harm or issues? Any guidance would be really appreciated. Thank you.
Welcome to the discussions! It seems your current motherboard might be outdated compared to the newest BIOS updates for AMD 5000 series CPUs. (I think MSI provides the Date of Manufacture information on the same label as the S/N.) You should be fine as long as you adhere to the steps for BIOS flashing using a USB drive—this process is generally straightforward. Make sure you download the BIOS revision from a separate machine and save it properly, so the flashing software can read it without errors. If not done correctly, the BIOS update might fail or cause damage.
