Underclocking PVS416G440C9K using GIGABYTE Z390 DESIGNARE
What tips would you give for adjusting the RAM speed to fit this MoBo? I’m experiencing crashes from Xmp, and I currently have 32GB at the default speed. I’m just starting out with RAM overclocking.
CPU is a 9700k. XMP isn't enabled due to crashes, but I wanted to maximize the performance of this RAM. Should I increase the clock speed slowly or stick to timings? Thanks for helping me as a new OC RAM user.
First - check if that particular ram kit is listed on your motherboard memory QVL.
I suspect it's not - because it hasn't been tested or it failed tests when it was tried on your motherboard.
If it is, then try just one stick in one dimm slot at a time - maybe it's a dimm slot problem or a ram problem.
You can also teste the ram with memtest 86 - it takes hours to test it properly.
There's also a Windows memory test tool you could try -

. It's probably nowhere near as thorough as memtest.
