Not every board maker can confirm this. According to the Asrock B660M-HDV page, this model doesn’t meet my standards and I’d only consider it for simpler builds like Pentium or i3, not i5. A good B660 board typically features six to ten PCB layers, while a 4-layer MBO design in 2022 is unusual. EDIT: This version also includes a link to the ASUS B660M-V5-D4, which I wouldn’t suggest for a 12400f configuration. Edited January 9, 2022 by Valentin17

@Oswolrf If you want extra I/O volume over quality, the H670 is the way to go—it's not significantly pricier. Asus segmentation is impressive, and it’s among the most focused on storage needs. The B660-Plus offers 20Gb/s USB-C versus the 10Gb/s version on the H670-Plus. It includes an internal USB-C header for front cases, which the H670 doesn’t have. The main distinction lies in the third NVMe drive: the B660 has double the speed (x2) compared to x4 on the H670. Expect more than three years development time if you need high-bandwidth GPUs under $1000, especially with the need for powerful MCM chips. Soundcard lanes are outdated, and the industry is moving toward external audio solutions.

Both B660 and H670 seem suitable for your intended purpose.

Absolutely, I was referring to the Asus Prime series. Their segmentation approach doesn't burden the end-user; it focuses on I/O performance and speed, which is a significant improvement compared to past issues Asus faced. The lower-end models now meet expectations, but for those needing more power like Steel Legend or PRO RS, upgrading is necessary. Four layers are sufficient for these boards. However, if you have a lot of USB devices, the H670 is definitely worth considering.
