Hi everyone, last week I brought my computer to a repair shop after experiencing several issues: file system errors, an unsuccessful Windows reset attempt, and a failed Windows reinstall from a USB drive due to a blue screen with specific error codes: Memory management/ Nopaged Area/ Bad_Pool_Caller/ 0xC000021A. The shop suggested the CPU had thermal paste residue and the motherboard had bent pins, recommending a new CPU and motherboard. They provided attached photos. What concerns me is that the PC had functioned normally for a year without major issues, yet these problems should have caused immediate failure. I’m puzzled—shouldn’t such serious faults have stopped the machine right away? Also, I didn’t assemble the computer nor did I remove the CPU before handing it over. Could you please clarify this situation? Thank you in advance.

I applied thermal paste to the CPU and it functioned properly. For the bent pins, I noticed just one odd-looking pin, but I’m not sure if it’s a problem.

It's really confusing since the pins seem fine unless they're actually gone. Fixing this is pretty straightforward, especially in a repair shop. Just don't assume it's unrelated to the CPU/MBOB.

Thermal paste is removable. Advising replacements that can be cleaned isn’t helpful. Use 99% ISO and QTip to remove it, then use a microfiber cloth to wipe it away.

They likely adjusted that pin, retrieve your gear from them, and verify those photos came from your own setup.
