I assembled a new PC using components from two existing systems. My motherboard was removed from my original unit, so I transferred everything to a partially constructed one. I have two hard drives installed—one HDD already present on the new build. Everything functioned properly on that HDD, and it connected to the internet via Ethernet without issues. However, when booting up the SSD, everything loaded correctly, but it didn’t connect to the internet. Initially, I attempted to delete the network adapter or driver and restart the computer, hoping the drivers would install automatically, but that didn’t resolve the problem. After downloading the correct driver from the motherboard website on USB, I placed it in the driver folder on the SSD, but it still didn’t work. I’m unsure whether I should extract the downloaded files and move everything into a single folder or just place both files inside the driver folder. I’ve tried a full network reset through the options menu, but it also failed. I’m currently using Windows 10 on both drives. Additionally, I don’t have the motherboard disc. The only alternative I considered is cloning the HDD to the SSD, though I’d prefer not to do that since my SSD is much smaller than the HDD.
Did you perform a fresh installation on the SSD? If not, that would be the optimal approach. On the driver, you should be able to download it, move it to any folder, then launch Device Manager, right-click the device displaying the exclamation point, and inform it you have the disc. This should open an explorer window. Go to the extracted files location and click OK; if the correct driver is present, it will install automatically.
It seems there was another version at the top that I removed. I also attempted to include legacy hardware, but none of those choices are available.
I decided not to post a screenshot since it only displays several outdated ports like Ikev2 and IPv6.
I went ahead and performed a full reset with a fresh Windows installation, hoping this will resolve the issue—I was trying to prevent that but...
