Uncertain cause behind the 2070 shuttering.
CPU model is AMD Ryzen 7 2700x, motherboard ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0, memory is a single stick G.SKILL Aegis 16GB DDR4 at 2400MHz, GPU is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super GIGABYTE GDDR6 8GB, RAM is WD Blue™ SATA SSD M.2 2280 500GB, power supply is KOLINK CORE PSU - 850W (80 PLUS). I'm new to forums, so don't judge me. The issue is significant frame rate drops and stuttering in games. Initially, I assumed the bottleneck was with my Ryzen 5 2600, so I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 2700x. Then I switched to a new 850W PSU, thinking the previous one was insufficient. However, benchmarks and comparisons show my FPS is much lower than others with similar configurations or settings. For instance, when playing Warzone at low settings with VSync and anti-aliasing off, my top FPS is around 60. In contrast, others achieve 100-120 FPS. With Valorant, my FPS fluctuates wildly between 180-200 and often drops to 80. I'm playing at 1440p, but MSI Afterburner showed only peak usage around 50%. I'm considering upgrading to faster RAM since that part hasn't changed, or maybe my system isn't powerful enough for 1440p gaming. Apologies for the poor English, and thank you for your help!
Adjust FPS settings in drivers, disable V-Sync during gameplay. Notice how 2K often matches 4K or Full HD performance. I think your hardware isn’t capable of handling 4K or 2K quality, and Full HD still performs adequately. Stick with Full HD, even if your specs suggest otherwise. Always share the PSU and storage details.
I adjust the post settings using my storage and PSU, but I’m unsure about your meaning with full HD now 2K. My native monitor’s resolution is 2560x1440. I’m using an LG UltraGear 27GN800. I keep my FPS in-game and in the NVIDIA drivers, yet it remains the same—worse now than before. My FPS fluctuates between 80-120, which is not ideal. I’m thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and faster RAM, but otherwise I don’t know why my system is so slow in games like Valorant, especially since MW2 drops to 50-60 FPS.
