I'm assisting my sibling in upgrading his computer with a new processor and motherboard that supports Windows 11. He wants to build the USB tool before dismantling the old one, but it's refusing because of compatibility issues. I need to figure out how to create a USB installation tool for Windows 11 once the new PC is assembled. Is there a more efficient method to achieve this?

If it offers that feature, I don’t see it.

Consider using the standard method. Download the Windows 11 installer from Microsoft, run it and direct it to the USB drive. Make sure to turn off any virus scanner that might interfere, especially when writing to a boot sector. Keep in mind there are additional hardware requirements for UEFI support, and some online tools exist to bypass these checks. I won’t mention those here.

I caused his system to fail to start and there’s no backup available. I’m stuck trying to fix it and none of my searches worked. I’ve run various commands in the command prompt, but they keep returning errors.

I can't determine the exact hardware without more details. It’s hard to tell just from a description whether the issue is with the CPU, motherboard, storage, graphics card, or memory.

No GPU detected. Please identify the specific messages appearing during the installation selection process. Do you require retention of data from the drive?

Radion Vega confirmed the information. The system is functioning without errors during boot, and the USB installation process is accessible.

Well, after the upgrade you changed the CPU and mainboard. Now when you boot from the USB, it sees a different SSID and account, so it treats the drive as if it came from another computer with ACL access controls. To fix this: disconnect the faulty drive, install a fresh Windows disk, connect the old one, and set up security in the Security tab. Add your user with full permissions across the entire disk, including subfolders. You can then copy the files you need. Later, you can remove all partitions—create a single large partition and quick format it. If you want to use the old drive as storage, keep it; otherwise, consider saving it for reference. This method is straightforward but may require reinstalling programs that rely on registry entries. Other solutions might exist, but this is the simplest path. You’ll need to re-add all necessary software after the setup.
