Hi everyone, here’s the scenario – I’m working remotely with a laptop (Lenovo T490s), a PC, and two monitors (U2722D and U2722DE). The connections are set up this way: PC → U2722DE via DP → U2722DE to U2722D again. This configuration lets me switch inputs between the displays and use USB-C on one while HDMI on the other, all without needing to disconnect cables.
At first, everything worked perfectly. I connected the DP cables and everything functioned as expected. Now the issue arises: my U2722D won’t connect via HDMI when I try to switch to the laptop’s display. The signal says “no” even though it’s brand new. I’ve checked all the basics – removed DP cables, taken the PC off the monitors, tried resets – but nothing changes.
The odd part is that after reconnecting, the U2722D still shows a picture through the DP cable (still daisy chained to the U2722DE), but at a strange resolution of 2048 and 30fps, which makes it completely unusable. I’m fairly tech-savvy, so I’ve gone through all the settings and troubleshooting steps, but I’m stuck with no clear solution. Please help me figure this out.
Sorry to hear that. Avoid continuing to fix the daisy chain setup for HDMI. Simply reset everything and try a different connection method. Your PC should act as the central hub.
But I'm not trying to create a daisy chain. Or am I? It's confusing me. My laptop setup doesn't seem to function properly. I'm just plugging in a USB-C monitor and an HDMI monitor in their ports. Why isn't it working? Could the connected DP cables be causing issues? If so, what would make switching between them easy? I think a KVM might help.
I just resolved it... The issue was I connected the USB-C to the charger instead of the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port. I left this note for anyone who might face a similar problem later. I thought it was fine at first, but moving the connection caused the issue.
