Unable to start with integrated graphics following GPU change (seems unclear)
Hi everyone, I experienced a change in my setup after upgrading one of my GPUs. Previously, I had two separate graphics cards for computing and used my display with the integrated GPU. After replacing one of the discrete cards with an RTX 5000 ADA, I found that my system only worked properly when using the discrete card for output. Now, I’m relying on the integrated GPU for display purposes. This transition came after an upgrade from an RTX 3090 to an RTX 5000 ADA. Ubuntu 24.10 still has problems with NVIDIA drivers, so I want my VRAM reserved for computation rather than display. Integrated graphics are really important to me. Here’s what happened:
What I’m facing:
- After the GPU swap, the system boots and functions, but only with a discrete card for the display.
- The integrated GPU isn’t showing video when I connect an HDMI cable.
- I changed BIOS settings to switch the display adapter to the iGPU, but nothing improved.
- The motherboard’s debug LED stays on solid white when trying to boot with the iGPU.
- The new GPU (RTX 5000 ADA) is running the display, while the old discrete card (A5000) is still active.
- I’m unsure if there’s a driver or OS issue, or maybe a hardware problem.
Help would be greatly appreciated—I’m quite stuck!
