Unable to show BIOS when Secure Boot or UEFI is activated
I tried turning on secure boot in BIOS but the monitor shows "Input Not Supported." After checking, the BIOS update should now enable it by default. Still, it won’t show up. I’m stuck because I can’t display BIOS even after removing the CMOS battery. I need to adjust settings like disabling my APU and overclocking RAM. My system details are: MSI A320M-A PRO R5 3400G, RX 580, 8GB RAM, 1080p 75Hz on an Acer monitor connected via HDMI. I don’t have a display port cable to test.
Press and hold the shift key while rebooting. The next time it should enter troubleshooting mode. There, under troubleshooting you can find UEFI settings, which are also your BIOS. Crashing the boot three times will achieve the same result. Just don’t go too far on that.
This happens oddly when resolution isn't supported, though it should remain low in that setting. Unless your display doesn't handle the resolution properly. With HDMI, see if your monitor has an auto-adjust feature you can activate.
It looks like your monitor doesn’t support low resolution. You’re fine with Windows, so the issue might be related to the HDMI connection. I considered trying a different HDMI cable, but it didn’t help. You mentioned you could buy a DP cable—would that solve the problem? Also, you tried removing the GPU and plugging the HDMI into the motherboard, but that didn’t work either.
your monitor lacks a dedicated DP port, only HDMI and VGA are available. of course it wouldn’t need one. an HDMI to DP converter doesn’t make much sense here. you’re confused about the UEFI settings—this feature isn’t just a Windows option, and it can influence the BIOS. try checking the relevant settings in your system configuration.
I still want to stick with Windows 11... I really like it, while Windows 10 feels outdated. I should have mentioned I use Windows 11. Maybe this is connected.
