Unable to save a new file on the desktop due to an issue.
Hello, I've observed today that Windows 10 doesn't let me make a new text file on the desktop (right-click-new-text-file). I'm curious why this happens. Could it be a virus that altered my PC? I remember being able to create such files a week or two ago, even though the Windows 10 installation is only two months old. Other files still work fine. Text files can be saved in folders, but not directly on the desktop.
Verify your configuration...are you the main account? Are you identified as the administrator for your machine? A brief adjustment...I completely missed the MS in its insight, which began concealing essential options within the menus as kb5zue noted just prior to my posting...
you might need admin access because creating a text file often requires elevated permissions. it could also be related to security checks, malware detection tools, or system cleanup processes that need higher privileges.
