Unable to retrieve code for LEGO Cybermaster Unit
Unable to retrieve code for LEGO Cybermaster Unit
Hello, I’m hoping someone can assist me. This topic is quite unusual. I’m not sure if this forum is the best place for my question. Perhaps an Admin would know where this discussion belongs. Recently, I uncovered my old LEGO Cybermaster set and attempted to operate it. My goal was to demonstrate the amazing world of Lego Cybermaster to my 5-year-old son. I configured a VM (VirtualBox) with Windows XP and installed the software there. Everything is running smoothly. (If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to share the setup steps). I can launch the program and establish a connection between the tower unit and the mobile unit. I linked the tower via a Serial-USB connector on the PC (it’s a Windows Surface 4 Pro). It may take some time to connect, but it usually works (I think due to the VM). In-game, I can control the mobile unit with arrow keys and the extra motor using CTRL and ALT. That’s fine. My son and I are already having a great time with the set. So it was definitely worth it. Problem: I’m unable to download a program (code) to the mobile unit. When I try, both the tower and the mobile start flickering, but after a few seconds the mobile just turns off. No code is downloaded. I also installed Bricx Command Center directly in Windows 10. There the connection works instantly. I can still control it directly through the "Brick Joystick" tool and the "Direct Control" tool. I can also play music notes via the "Brick Piano". Still, I can’t get the code to the mobile unit. I can write and compile code without issues, but the download keeps crashing. I currently own three mobile units (and towers) for testing. All behave the same way. I suspect the issue might be related to the Serial Connector. Maybe the read/write timing is incorrect. But I have no idea what to adjust. I really hope someone here can help me. I’d love to show my son how we can program the robot to achieve our goals. Thank you very much.
