Hello, my brother messed up his Asus K55V laptop. When I first turned it on, it displayed an incorrect password and froze. After removing the hard drive and formatting it, installing a fresh Windows 10 copy worked from USB. The initial setup screen asked for country, keyboard language, and time zone, then began installation, resetting everything along the way. Windows 7 followed a similar pattern but restarted before country selection, loading files from a DVD during a black screen and showing a green-blue install window. This process continued until the system shut down completely. I tried changing the HDD and RAM without success, and had to adjust BIOS settings—disabling secure boot, CSM mode, and fast boot—to get it to boot from an external drive. After these changes, I was able to set the boot order. The laptop originally came with Windows 8, but I don’t have a copy. Formatting the C partition didn’t restore anything, so I cleared all partitions on the original HDD. I’m unsure if a BIOS update would help, but I’m open to suggestions.
