WMP functions as an application, not a file. It can be turned off, but it cannot be deleted.

Windows Media Player is a standard system file. It's similar to attempting to empty the Recycle Bin. You can hide its icon or place it in a less accessible folder on your computer.

Navigate to control panel, then Programs, and disable Windows features by unchecking the corresponding box.
