I changed the BIOS on my MSI B450M Mortar Titanium. Many people say you shouldn’t update BIOS unless needed, but everything’s been fine except the UEFI got a major rollback. The BIOS 5 version is missing and replaced by a version that feels dated, limiting fan speed tweaks. My Windows app lets me adjust case fans, but after restarting it resets to a default setting I find too loud. Can I keep these settings permanent? Or should I switch to a fan hub instead?

Press F6 to access the fan profile, and use F10 to save your settings for a reset.

F6 displays a prompt asking if default settings should be loaded. This new UEFI includes limited fan controls, with only one "Smart Mode" offering fixed preset options that can't be changed. It's surprising how much personalization is being removed.

It could be simpler to lower your BIOS to the latest release with a user-friendly interface.
