Unable to reach shared directories via the network connection.
You're having trouble accessing shared folders between your Windows 10 desktop and laptop. The issue seems to stem from the tutorial you followed, which might not be fully compatible with Windows 11. Double-check the steps and ensure your laptop is properly connected to the network. If needed, try restarting both devices or consulting additional support resources.
Do you rely on a Microsoft account as your primary login for your PC? If so, set up an additional user without a Microsoft account and grant them read/write permissions. You might also explore adjusting settings such as Network, Advanced Network, and sharing options, enabling printer and file sharing while changing the network type to Private on both your laptop and desktop if needed. You can modify these settings via the Network settings and select the network you're currently connected to, ensuring NAS access is active.
I managed to figure it out—I forgot to click "Add" after choosing everyone in the sharing dialog. Thanks for the help! The networks were private, and printer and file sharing were also enabled.
