I have two computers I recently transferred from one to the other—Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. On my Windows 10 machine, networking file sharing works perfectly, but with Windows 8.1 it’s not possible at all. Initially, the other computer wouldn’t show up, but now I can only access public and default folders, which are completely useless since I haven’t added anything there. I’ve tried enabling specific shared folders, but they still appear in the networking view. It’s unclear whether the issue lies with my settings or with Windows itself. I’m worried that something in Windows has malfunctioned, or maybe my modifications have caused further problems. I’ve already tried various combinations and don’t know what to do next.
