Hey everyone, I just switched from a GTX 1650 to an RTX 3060, but it feels totally different. When I start a game, both my CPU and the GPU seem to be idling, barely using any frames even with a full frame limiter. I’m not getting much performance out of it. Back then, on the 1650, it could hit 100% usage and render the full frame rate. Now it’s stuck at half capacity, pushing only a small number of frames. I’ve checked my power supply—450 watts, which seems fine—but I ran both Furmark and the CPU cooler together, and they both managed to draw the right amount of power and still hit 100%. I’ve searched everywhere online, but I can’t find any solution that works for similar setups. What could be going wrong here? --specs-- Intel Core i7-9700F (all power limits off, 4.7 cores, BCLCK 102.80MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB, OC’d to 3500MHz) RTX 3060 (reboot enabled) Cooler Master 450W 80plus bronze (approx model) Z390 Gaming X Sound Blaster Windows 10 LTSC 1809 — What I’ve tried/done:
- Ran DDU on display drivers before installing the RTX
- Disabled all power savings
- Used Nvidia Control Panel with high performance settings
- Turned off ReBar benchmarking
- Updated chipset drivers (including one I don’t have the software for)
- Ran multiple games, always getting lazy CPU/GPU usage
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you can share. I’m not new to this, so feel free to add your thoughts!

What frame rate are you seeing? Is it a fixed number, such as 60 frames per second?

I don't have a frame limiter, so it varies across games. However, the Lazy mode remains consistent.

Looking for a game sample with FPS, CPU and GPU stats, plus temperature data. You mentioned performance issues like low GPU usage under certain settings and the impact of resizable bars.

We need to discuss the games and provide data for analysis. GPU usage is reported internally by the GPU, making it somewhat opaque and sometimes irrelevant. Observing high usage even at 60 fps or a third of maximum on my 3070 Ti can be confusing. Without knowing the specific games and frame rates, it's hard to determine if there are real problems. GPU utilization might not be useful. Consider using HWinfo64 to examine power draw, timing details, and related metrics instead.

These are fairly simple games, aren't they? You're playing in 1080p? Consider AAA titles or run benchmarks with Unigine Heaven to see if you can hit 100% GPU usage.

No, consider testing Cyberpunk to see how it performs with your setup. It could help you gauge the impact on your gaming experience and monitor any changes.

You're checking the ownership details and data you received. I'm not seeing any information about maximum or average frame rates, nor the intended resolution. That's why you're wondering about the expected FPS range—it depends on several factors like hardware, settings, and content.
