I'm struggling to understand why my game keeps dropping frames and dropping to low FPS. I've been using these specs: Ryzen 1600 (3.8GHz OC), GTX 1080, Trident Z RGB 3200MHz (running at 2933), 144Hz (OC'd to 165Hz) on a 144Hz G-sync monitor. Games load at 160-150 FPS then fall to 100 during lanes, and drop even more in intense fights. It's similar with PUBG. I've tried everything: set lowest settings, turned off V-sync, maxed out NVIDIA panel, Ryzen Balanced, High performance mode. No issues occurred. I've updated drivers, disabled SMT in BIOS, turned Ryzen Quiet mode off. People with similar or worse systems seem more stable. Something must be wrong with me—I should have better performance.

The R5 1600 performs adequately for standard gaming, though its refresh rates may not be ideal. CPU utilization and temperatures are within typical ranges for its specifications.

League can be frustrating for optimization, especially on high-end systems. It usually maintains around 60 FPS across most platforms, but achieving a steady 100 FPS+ feels elusive. The game prioritizes smooth single-core performance rather than GPU intensity, which makes sense given their goal of maximizing playability on less powerful hardware. If you're just looking to enjoy the game, consider adjusting your settings or using an older OC with lower clock speeds.

The problem lies in the single-threaded weak performance of the Ryzen chip. For high refresh rates (144hz to 165hz to 240hz) gaming at that speed, a CPU from Intel Coffee Lake is better suited. You might also try boosting the Pagefile, using DDU in safe mode, and reinstalling the display drivers.

League is built to work on toasters (basically I could plug my screen into a toaster and it would start) and it's mainly tuned for around 100 frames per second. Even with my 4790K and 970, I usually stay under 140fps most of the time. Before all the tweaks for toasters, I could reach 300fps, but it didn't really matter then.
