I rented a VPS a few days ago to host my Minecraft server for playing with friends. Soon after, I faced a problem where the program kept crashing and showing an error about memory limits. I tried using the screen method but only extended session length, not continuous operation. My server runs on Debian 11 with Java 17 installed.

Have you confirmed there isn't a memory issue?

Boost memory by raising allocation limits to 8GB. Adjusting -Xms8192m and -Xmx8192m should enhance speed.

It's more likely you borrowed the other type of virtual machine. If you enabled higher memory usage, it could cause issues. Otherwise, the current setup may not fit the requirements.
