Problem description:
Two weeks ago, a friend gave me the Destiny 2 DLCs. I encountered an error where the game crashed with “GPU not found” (error code: brocolii). I updated my GPU drivers, but the issue persisted. People suggested it was a Destiny bug, so I stopped playing.
Two days ago, I experienced pixel freezes and static effects during gameplay. Research online indicated a Windows update was the cause, so I updated Windows, but the problem continued.
I then tested my RAM with a Windows memory test, which indicated it was fine. After resetting the OS, I saw vertical and colored lines on my screen, leading to a black screen error. Suspecting a failing HDD, I removed the Windows 10 boot drive and installed the OS again. However, the vertical lines persisted when I connected an HDD to the BIOS, displaying numerous colored pixels and hindering clear viewing.
After reinstalling the OS and drivers, I noticed my GPU temperatures rising, and a black screen appeared when the fan spun. This led to repeated force shutdowns, indicating potential disk damage requiring diagnostics. Windows recommended a restart.
I suspect the issue might be related to the thermal compound on my GPU, given that CPU temperatures are normal. I cannot easily obtain replacement thermal compound due to lockdown and lack of local resources.
Please advise before attempting any further steps. This system is six years old and reaching its expiration date in September.
Thank you in advance.
